News: National Youth Ballet

Jill Tookey, founder and artistic director of the National Youth Ballet writes to say there are still tickets available for this year's gala at the London Palladium on Sunday (5th September) at 7.30pm.

Andrew McNicol brings Rainbow Bear to life.

I saw the show last week in Tonbridge and was really impressed with the dancing on show in a very mixed bill which ranged from classical ballet to contemporary to Latin American. Lots of attention is lavished on the boys who often get the juicier roles and well targeted choreography - which is probably why 25% of the company is now made up of boys of all ages.

The main feature of this year's programme is a new ballet of Michael Morpurgo's Rainbow Bear. The bear is quite superbly danced by 18 year old Andrew McNicol who instills the bear with a depth of character that would make many professionals jealous.
